Christian YACCARINI, President & CEO of the Société de développement Angus (SDA) (Canada)
Christian Yaccarini is a son of Egyptian and Italian immigrants born in Quebec City. After studying Political Sciences in Montreal, he worked in various community organizations. In 1989, he got involved in the setting up of the CDEC (Community Economic Development Corporation) Centre Nord and in 1990 of the Rosemont Petite Patrie’s. Following the closure of the large railway company -Angus-, Christian Yaccarini as an economic development officer developed a major reconversion project for this site. To this end, he created the Société de développement Angus, a social economy enterprise that he has been managing since 1995. The Société de développement Angus has acquired 250,000 m² and has developed a real mixed neighbourhood in terms of jobs (3,000) and both residential and commercial levels. Since then, the Technopôle Angus has become a world reference both in terms of industrial site reconversion and sustainable development. |
